  1. Good win by Glasgow over the weekend. The limited Scottish returnees had a good run out with Darge impressing once more.

  2. In terms of all things rugby , I think this RWC is in danger of being characterised by a dumb draw and refereeing. The quarter finals were of a high standard I have rarely witnessed however the draw was dire.

Every side that left in the Quarters have raised concerns about refereeing decisions, if I am to believe the internet feeds. The pools were about yellow and red card consistency. I am pleased to see the referees awarding 10m for talkback in the Semi’s. It just takes up time and it will reverberate to all levels in the game if we entertain it in test matches. Long may that continue.

I was pleased to see Joy Neville and Ben Whitehouse finding a voice as TMO’s.

Lastly , I think Wales and England have demonstarted resilience. We will need to continue to improve if we are to maintain our recent dominance over them. The game is not standing still.

    1. I would also bring the TMO’s into the mix as well. There were some glaring ‘misses’ by the TMO’s which Ben Whitehouse was part of e.g. France v SA penalty to SA but blatantly should have gone to France.

  3. There are definitely a few things that have made this World Cup seem like a bit of a damp squib. Obviously, as said a million times previous, the draw was just a farce. Totally lop sided.
The competition had been drawn out far too long and only having basically weekend games means that, in my opinion, interest has disintegrated. Most of my occasional rugby watching pals forgot it was on weeks ago. The bunker system seemed to get sidelined after the group stages or at least its not featured as heavily ?

The disparity between Northern and Southern Hemisphere refs needs to get sorted. They ref the breakdown so differently that it becomes less about the sport being played and more the interpretation of the ruck !
