FOSROC Future XV team to join Super Series

Scottish Rugby has today announced that the new “FOSROC Future XV” team will join the Super Series ahead of the 2023 FOSROC Super Series Championship.

A new team comprised of young Scottish players will soon join the ranks, competing against the already established six licenced clubs: Ayrshire Bulls, Boroughmuir Bears, Heriot’s Rugby, Stirling Wolves, Southern Knights, and Watsonians. The FOSROC Future XV team has been added to the championship to provide better preparation for Scotland’s young players as they strive towards international U20 rugby and beyond.

This new addition not only creates an exciting new opponent for the existing clubs, but also serves to enhance the performance of aspiring future Scotland U20 players at the Six Nations and World levels.

The FOSROC Future XV team has appointed Scott Lawson as their Head Coach, along with Euan Clark and Shade Munro as his assistants. Additionally, the Scotland U20 squad’s coaching team, including Scott Forrest and Fergus Pringle, will provide support to the wider U20 coaching team after their return from the World Rugby U20 Trophy held in Kenya.

The Championship will return at the end of July and run until mid-November. Each of the seven teams will play each other home and away apart from the FOSROC Future XV, who will play all of their games away.

“We are committed to providing more high-performance opportunities for our players. After the inclusion of the two professional A squads in this year’s FOSROC Super Series Sprint, this is yet another exciting step towards bridging the performance gap between the amateur and professional game.”

Scottish Rugby’s Performance Director Jim Mallinder

The team will don a red and black playing kit to align with the colour themes of sponsor FOSROC, with a new logo to match. Fixtures for the 2023 FOSROC Super Series Championship and broadcasting details will be confirmed isoon.
