Podcast: Episode 148 – Cherry Good

Podcast

Cammy, Rory and Iain review Scotland’s historic win against Italy, chat about the Women’s upcoming Six Nations and review Glasgow and Edinburgh’s recent performances. Elsewhere we get our hands in the ruck about fantasy rugby, out one of Glasgow’s new signings as a mafia boss and introduce a new jingle. We also hear from Finn Russell about the loss of some English players who have been released back to their clubs.

We also have our third best ever Where’s Dougie Donnelly with a former player making a very special appearance on stage at a children’s show.

  1. Good pod guys.

Cam if you think Gatland will select 7+ Scots in the Lions you need to mentally prepare yourself for disappointment.

    Mish, Hogg, Russell

Honestly cant see more than that.

    1. This is Gatland we are talking about – I wouldn’t be surprised if Hogg is the only one selected. There were only two Scots selected last time (Hogg & Seymour). Laidlaw was only called up after Ben Youngs had to pull out. I wouldn’t be shocked if Gatland went for Sexton, Farrell and Biggar as his three fly halves. I would be pleasantly surprised if Mish gets the nod over Curry or Tipuric. I can however see a few Scots being on the standby list.

      1. I think you’re right. Russell just got himself off the plane I think. Surely Watson goes in the squad ? Maybe not though. “too wee” will be excuse.

  2. I appreciate the sentiment around trans woman having the right to play rugby and be included in the sport, but at times the discussion is based on emotion. I think the blog could do more to get experts opinions and discuss the topic based on the sport science arguments. The rfu risk assessment requirements is just silly, as the thought process behind it is flawed.
Personally I think world rugby had done well to consider all points of the arguement and their judgement was the most considered.
For those who want to find a bit more about world rugby’s thought process and reason, there is an episode on the “real science in sport” podcast.
