Stuart Hogg, Conor Murray, Elliot Daly and Adam Jones for Whyte & Mackay

Scottish Scotch Whisky Whiskey brand Whyte & Mackay have been doing their best to smooth things over between any possible rival factions in the Brirish and Irish Lions camp ahead of their tour to New Zealand.

With the squad touching down in Auckland this morning after a brief stopover in Australia, Stuart Hogg is one of the Lions stars who have signed up as brand ambassadors for Whyte & Mackay Scotch Blended Whisky for The Lions tour.

In an amusing short film released by the award-winning whisky brand, Hoggy joins normally rival players Conor Murray (Ireland), Elliot Daly (England) and former Lions stalwart Adam Jones (Wales) to try to smooth things over in time for the four nations to unite as a team in just a few days. There is plenty of mutual admiration, a bit of craic and one of them in a kilt…

We’ll let you judge for yourself:

Ruairi Perry, Head of Blended Whisky Brands shared: “These players are normally knocking lumps out of each other and their fans are usually on opposite sides. Whyte & Mackay have been on a fun mission to help smooth things over and celebrate each other’s heritage – well at least for the duration of the Lion’s Tour.”

Whyte & Mackay is also asking Scottish Rugby fans to follow in Stuart’s footsteps by taking its online ‘Lion Detector’ to prove that they’re also smooth enough to cast rivalries aside. A Facebook Bot using voice-activated technology will ask fans to repeat a series of statements about the other home nations and will judge how genuine they are from their delivery.  (requires FB login).

Throughout the Lion’s Tour, Whyte & Mackay will release additional films, offer exclusive prizes and they will be announcing some select dates around the UK to help even more Lions fans #STAYSMOOTH.
