Another weekend, and another set of results smashing you in the face like a heavy dose of reality TV.
With Scotland’s football team howking out a 0-0 barn-burner in the frozen reaches of Eastern Europe and Glasgow’s game only being presented in ‘Swedish Chef’ it was a good weekend to see some live rugby in the (rare) Scottish sunshine.
Here are the results from the weekend’s games:
Glasgow Hawks 46-26 Stirling County
at Old Anniesland
With the league’s top points scorers playing against a team yet to shut out a try bonus, this always had the potential to be one sided. However County still battled to the end, and need to get a win against Selkirk this weekend if they are to pull themselves out of the bottom four.

Hawick 14-19 Melrose
at Mansfield Park
This one went bloody close.
There are always rumours of unrest and tantrums coming out of the Mansfield dressing room, but they will give it a go at home. For Melrose it looks like back to the drawing board for a game against a leaky Dundee defence at the Greenyards, where they have never lost to the Taysiders.

Heriot’s 20-16 Currie
A bludgeoning affair saw the League’s best defence come out on top as the Nails held out a 60 minute fight back from the reigning champions, Currie. It could have all been over after 20 minutes as Heriot’s raced into a 20-0 lead, but Currie came back and if it hadn’t been for some staunch tackling they could have won. It doesn’t get any easier though, as Heriot’s face Ayr next, and Currie have try-machines Hawks.

Currie Tries: Weston, Scott. Pens: Abercrombie.
SRB Man of the Match: J Parker
Dundee 23-31 Ayr
Only Boroughmuir and Hawks have scored more points than Dundee, yet only Stirling and West have conceded more. So it is no surprise, then, that Cup holders Ayr gave up two tries, but scored four themselves.
Dundee must galvanize themselves for a trip to the Greenyards and a hoodoo yet to be broken. Ayr, meanwhile, retreat to Millbrae for a showdown with Heriot’s.
Dundee: Horne; Fleming, Duthie, Clark, Hay; O’Connor, A Dymock; N Dymock, Forrest, Brown, Hawkins, Linton, Cumming, Gray, Levison.
Replacements Used: Kerr, Russell, Milne, Cessford, Coleman.

Ayr Tries: Anderson 2, Bennett, Crossan. Cons: Curle. Pens: Curle, Bennett 2.
SRB Man of the Match: M Bennett
Selkirk 23-20 Watsonians
Not the prettiest, this one. By all accounts ‘Sonians butchered some opportunities, but Selkirk had enough grit to limp over the line; despite a growing list of casualties. Things aren’t looking great for the team in maroon…
Selkirk: F Harkness; N Godsmark, D Cassidy, R Armstrong, J Hendrie; G Craig, M McVie; M Weller, S Forrest, R Taylor, C Marshall, S Willett, N Darling, A Renwick, C Johnston.
Replacements Used: G Patterson, C Patton, I Walling, R Godsmark, A Lyall.

Watsonians; Tries: Finnie, Ursache. Cons: Ker (2). Pens: Ker (2).
SRB Man of the Match: D Cassidy
Boroughmuir 41-21 West of Scotland
Despite a huge penalty count ‘Muir never looked like losing this one as the brushed aside a battle-hardened, but lightweight West side. The men in green and blue looked refreshed, and with more than a few new faces look set to hold onto their top four spot. For West it looks like one game at a time as the strive to pick off the teams round about them.
Boroughmuir: S Ruddick; R Neil, M Clapperton, J Fish, T Bury; A Warnock, S Johnson; R Hislop, S Crombie, N Fraser, T McColl, G Scott, J Doubleday, D O’Riordan, N Rodger.
Replacements Used: G Jones, F Lait, A Rose, R Samson, H Leonard.
West of Scotland: C Davis; C McKenzie, R Dalgleish, K Matheson, A McCall-Hagen; A Stevenson, A Fisken; S Longwell, D McKenna, E McLaren, R McAlpine, M Jenkinson, D Young, C Morrison, A de St Croix.
