Romania v Scotland called off

Next Saturday’s Summer Tour fixture against Romania in Bucharest has been called off following the confirmation that several members of the Scotland Men’s camp have tested positive for COVID-19.

All players and staff are currently isolating as per Scottish Government guidelines, and have been in enforced self-isolation since travelling back from Leicester on Sunday (27 June), where their game against England A was also called off.

Scottish Rugby have said they will not name the individuals affected, but it could affect the chances of players like Jamie Ritchie who may have hoped for a late Lions call up as injury cover, with the Lions tour already in a very precarious position in Covid-hit South Africa.

At this stage, the SRU has announced they have every intention of fulfilling the following week’s international fixture against Georgia in Tbilisi (Saturday 17th July), but that decision will be subject to further review and testing.
