1872 Cup Leg II: The teams

Dave Rennie will be the less happy coach after Glasgow returned home from BT Murrayfield without firing too many shots and he’s shown that with six changes to the starting XV including the return of co-skipper Ryan Wilson who didn’t feature at all last weekend.

A chest injury (or illness) to Huw Jones allows Rennie to rotate the centre group completely in an effort to find some penetration, an area where Glasgow struggled to make headway last weekend; Alex Dunbar and Pete Horne pair up while Sam Johnson makes a welcome return on the bench.

Ali Price also comes into the side, perhaps to settle Adam Hastings who will want to forget the last game, but the crazy is restored on the wing with Niko swapping in for DTH.

Glasgow: 15. Stuart Hogg, 14. Tommy Seymour, 13. Alex Dunbar, 12. Pete Horne, 11. Niko Matawalu, 10. Adam Hastings, 9. Ali Price; 1. Oli Kebble, 2. Grant Stewart, 3. D’Arcy Rae, 4. Tim Swinson, 5. Jonny Gray, 6. Ryan Wilson (capt), 7. Callum Gibbins (capt), 8. Matt Fagerson.

Replacements: 16. Kevin Bryce, 17. Jamie Bhatti, 18. Siua Halanukonuka, 19. Rob Harley, 20. Chris Fusaro, 21. George Horne, 22. Sam Johnson, 23. DTH van der Merwe.

Not available due to injury: Fraser Brown (knee), Zander Fagerson (ankle), Rory Hughes (shoulder), Huw Jones (chest), Lee Jones (knee), Lelia Masaga (calf), Kiran McDonald (calf) and George Turner (ankle).

Visitors Edinburgh go into the fixture with a lead in the cup having secured league points at home, and will be quite happy to hoover up anything they can get away to Glasgow – for most other teams “anything we can get” would be the target too for a visit to Scotstoun.

With that in mind Richard Cockerill sticks with much the same side that shut Glasgow down so effectively last time. Jamie Ritchie comes in for Luke Hamilton who drops out of the 23 altogether – other than that it is the same team.

Edinburgh: 15. Blair Kinghorn, 14. Darcy Graham, 13. James Johnstone, 12. Chris Dean, 11. Duhan van der Merwe, 10. Jaco van der Walt, 9. Henry Pyrgos; 1. Pierre Schoeman, 2.
