Scottish Rugby Blog Podcast Episode 8 – Consistently Six

Podcast

The eighth episode of our podcast is now available to listen to and download. This week Cammy is joined by Rory and Jack as well as co-founder of the blog Al Kerr. We pick over Scotland’s underwhelming victory over Italy and muse over why Al’s slightly positive player ratings were more controversial than Cammy’s Calcutta Cup ratings.

  1. Good episode this week gents. Nice to start off with the retirement of Sean Lamont. He gave his all in a Scotland jersey and wasn’t scared to call out a poor performance. I hope he stays involved in the Scottish game.

Also nice to end with Vern. His impact on Scottish Rugby is hugely appreciated and he will be missed. Bon chance Mr Cotter.

  2. Is anyone else having trouble getting the last two podcasts to load on their iPod? I can listen to it on the computer but can’t get it to sync when uploading to the device.

    Any solutions?

    1. Sorry to hear that, but I live in an Android/PC world so can’t help you, sorry. There is an iTunes app you can use to download Podcasts direct to your phone I believe but that’s not much help with an iPod, sorry!

  3. looking forward to hearing the panels thoughts who should tour and have a guess at who will be in the 6 nation’s first 15 next year

  4. Excuse me Cammy, “quite far down” in the Fantsasy League?
16th, would’ve been 2nd or 3rd had I not gone overtly patriotic for England v Scotland and left 50points on the bench.

  5. I don’t get the notion that Watson is hugely small – he’s 2kg lighter than Hardie, 1kg lighter than Barclay, 1kg lighter than Tipuric and 2kg heavier than Warburton, despite being between 1-3 inches shorter than them. It’s not like there’s a huge disparity.

  6. Following the glasgow game on scottish rugby blog Twitter feed as on holiday. Sounds like Swinson red a definite therefore will be out of next week? Huge blow with Strauss already out re ball carriers.

  7. Great podcast again guys. “Gonna have a chat about a fantasy league” has me in awkward hysterics every time!

Liked the point about Prices slow service last weekend. I’ve thought throughout the 6 nations that it’s a been tactical ploy to have him slow down the game Laidlaw-style and assume it must be Cotters idea given its how Parra played under him for Clermont. Watching Glasgow today, it was apparent how speedy Price’s passing can be when he plays his natural game and how much Finn thrives on it as well. From being an attacking 10 in his day, Townsend will understand the value of quick ball and I think that will be the main change in coaching tactics with him in charge

    1. Thought the same too…. what a difference when the ball gets shifted at pace. Price looked deliberately slowed down to me during 6 nations…which seemed a little counterproductive considering our biggest asset is flair at pace.

Watching the match today…. George Horne looks a cracking wee player! Caused Connacht alot of problems when he came on.
