Glasgow and Edinburgh Teams for PRO12 Weekend

I am concerned that those at Glasgow responsible for signing Kebble may not be aware that Munster have printed next year’s programmes with Kebble’s name already in them.If we were to steal him from under their noses it may cause damage to our previously excellent relationship with this world class Club and their players . In fact, this is following a distinct pattern: this weekend past we seem to have deliberately beaten their national team and thereby humiliated one of their greatest past players and showed him up to be a complete and utter gobshite. The previous week we upset one of their greatest present players by tackling him during a rugby game ,causing him so much concern that he was completely outplayed in the international ;to an extent that many of his countrymen were blaming him for the result.
   Now it seems that we are causing trouble with their prospective players .Dear,dear
   Sadly these actions can be so easily misinterpreted. I just hope that when the Glasgow International Rugby Union Youth banner appears at Thomond Park that its acronym is not similarly misunderstood.

   1. You forgot that vile Fraser Brown deliberately pummelling his head into the ground, risking paralysis or even death, in order to frame angelic Keith Earls. Those dastardly Scotch, meddling with Ireland’s procession to their rightful grand slam.

      Delighted to see Hughes and Cummings back fit; big futures for both of them. Lord Vernon too.

2. It just shows the strength of the Glasgow squad these days, I think that team has 9 Scotland caps (plus 3 on the bench). For comparison, I make it 4 capped players in the Edinburgh side (plus 2 on the bench).

   1. I’m amazed Puafisi isn’t starting, is he just back from
      injury or something? Very big show of confidence in Rae otherwise, which is encouraging.

3. I has written off Richie Vernon and was waiting to hear that he’d retired due to injury.
   I hope he manages to have some game time without injuries.
   It must be nearly 1½ years since he played.

4. Fully expecting Richie to come on and score a brace. Who needs J Gray when Richie is powering the scrum. When was the last time we saw Richie at home? The double Ulster fixtures?

5. Good Scarlets team – James Davies is a real talent at flanker, and I’m surprised he’s not at least benching for Wales.

   Both games on tv at the same time ( how well are we now served for Scottish rugby coverage ? ) but my cast iron rule in that scenario is to go with BBC Alba and the great Hugh Dan. C’mon Embra !

   1. Agree re. Davies; he’s been a stand-out player every time I’ve watched the Scarlets. I suppose Tipuric is in incredible form too however, and Faletau and Warburton are never getting dropped out the 23 let’s face it.

6. Two good looking squads. Both sides could do with wins – Glasgow to maintain momentum, and Edinburgh to close that gap on 6th.

   Fantastic to see some of the injured Warriors back in action, especially Richie Vernon as he has been so unlucky with injuries. With the signing of the Saffer 10 does this mean that Hagen Shulte is to be jettisoned at the end of the season? He does not seem to have had much impact at Scotstoun.

   It would be a major coup for Edinburgh to do the double over Ulster, even given the patchy form the Irishmen have been in this year. No Pieenar, but still lots of class in that team. Bradbury, Ritchie and Mata will have to put in a strong shift to slow their ball out to the likes of Piatau and Ludik.

   1. Unsure on Schulte. Interesting to note is he’s Scottish qualified through his grandmother, which could be why they brought him through initially along with his league points record from playing in NZ, but I’m really not sure beyond that because he’s never started and played (I think he was on a team sheet a while ago, but don’t think he played). Guess they don’t think he’s ready. At 25, it’s odd to see a player still in the academy and Hawks rather than getting full team opportunities, especially with the lack of competition for a 2nd or 3rd strain fly half.. Really strange and unexplained signing since he’s barely had an opportunity at the first team so maybe has some fundamental flaws in his game.

      Wouldn’t expect Thomson’s signing to mean too much by way of shunting anyone out the team. He could be Scottish qualified too through his dad, but unlike Schulte who signed on a 1 year deal, Thomson’s on a 2 month contract over the 6N. Think Thomson was just an emergency signing as Horne was out injured which left Clegg, which just No. no…. Who knows what the long-term plan is with all that in the mix. Might be a trial period for player and club, might just be a short-term replacement stopgap and he’s taking advantage of living and playing somewhere else for 2 months. I guess we’ll see.

      Bath Chronicle have reported that Adam Hastings will not be with Bath next season but with Glasgow Warriors. Spoken from an interview with Todd Blackadder who has already signed a replacement for Hastings, which confirms he’s with us at Glasgow and we’ll just be awaiting the announcement from Glasgow, just as we’re awaiting Gibbin’s confirmation from the Warriors social media outlets too.

      Long-term seems like Russell and Hastings will be our 10s, unless the Northampton rumour about signing a new 10 (announcement due on the end of the 6N tournament) is somehow Russell, which would be an unwelcome shock. See it’s hard to know who’s staying or going as we’ve been running understocked at 10 this year without Weir. Makes me think they want 3 at the club to play, but with Horne able to do a job, it could just be the two.
      Hopefully everything clears up and that Northampton rumour is just a nightmarish fantasy concocted by Satan.
